Maturity is often more absurd than youth and very frequently is most unjust to youth.
- Thomas -
Coming of late, there seems to be many hateful injections. Either directly or indirectly, literal or metaphorical, there are displays that are apparent to thine eyes. Believe you me, I do not care much for such. Much less the people involved.
Really, it is not that I do not care. Ironically, it also does not mean that I do. I am affected: tickled. I could not stop shaking my head, amused at such negative display of retaliation. As my dad used to say," If you are stupid, wherever you go, you'd still be stupid. You really do not need to do much, your work/attitude/words/habits/character speaks for it all." What gives?
I am not smart. Being a graduate does not make a person smart as well. I dare say not all graduates are smart. Some are there because they are simply lucky. Some are there because their parents are rich and can buy them into any school. Some are on the average, so they work their butts off to get to where they are. I have friends who just neck their results, but still get through: tiptoe-ing on razor sharp grades. Some do not even attend class [a habit that they attained since primary school], they BARELY survive. Are they smart? Does that make them mature?
There is really nothing great about being a graduate. It is just an extra piece of paper: a passport to a better working position, probably. A better pay, yes. Maybe, graduates are statuted as grand, because our numbers are still small [but rising]. Diplomas were thought of as gold before until there were too many diplomas around. There were too many diploma holders who were unemployed then. Now, the next step up the ladder is a grander piece of paper: a degree. Really, there are private institutions that welcomes stupid people to pursue their degree. So, stupid and mature is the trendy combination of the brainworks these days? *roll-eyes*
Well, you may say this: 'You are there, with a scroll, whereas I have nothing in my hands that is plated 'gold' in the eyes of society. Of cos, you can say many things against my mindset.' Really, nothing grand. As the saying goes, the grass always seems greener on the other side. Be here, then you'll know. Hark! You'll never be here, you won't understand ever.
Sit down with a few graduates and count how many 'A's they have. The present mark now is: the A's quantifies how smart you are. Truly, A's do not account for anything much. Unfortunately, the hierarchical system here is based mostly on meritocracy. You'll go up faster. Yes, the higher your education, the more opened your eyes ought to be as you are exposed to more. More of what? More of academic structures, mingles with more smart people. Hopefully, they are the accountable matured ones. I do agree that education can spark maturity. But it really does not make you mature.
Just a common prejudism that tag many graduates: all of us are supposed to be matured. Maybe we are, maybe we are not. Maturity is ultimately relative, don't you think? A 23-year-old may pass off a 25-year-old's comments as immature. Such is simply because the mind of the 23-year-old may not have been incapacitated by the tools needed to fully read, understand, study, analyse and conclude of whatever was happening.
The simple truth is never simple and pure. Situations are not only bubbled by two people. There are many people and many angles involved. However, if you are able to do the above thinking steps and try to arrow down to almost all angles that you could think of, and eventually comment as a neutral being, then that would make you a better person (maybe) : the wise man thinks before he speaks. But then again, how many people are bothered to go through such tedious steps? Even if you are able to do that, does that make you a mature? Maybe you'd be passed off as someone who is able to think. Maybe to another, you're still immature. You cannot please everyone, right?
That is why, I do not really dare use the word immature on anyone. I always use the words: 'childlike' or 'childish'. As I am aware, I may be mature based on my own depictions. Others may have labeled me as immature. Be careful of what you say. It reflects on what and who you are.
OR you can always follow the present trend to be labeled and called as mature: say things that are only pleasing to the involved-parties ears. In that you'll be in their good books, probably they'd be embracing you as their mature brother or sister and seek you to join their club: sheep-mental club.
People do not judge by your intentions, but your actions.

10 people can stand infront of a painting and million different opinions, conclusions and theses could birth. In that, even if one is very sure of his own stand and intention, and has it displayed as it is, his true intention might never be projected. The chances are always 50-50. But then again, even if his true intention has been thoroughly explained, the listener's or reader's brain-filters might just not allow the message to be titrated through exactly the way that former wants it to be. That is why, when stories were passed by whispers (grunts, gossips, persay, hearsay), the essence of the story is always being misconstrued. Undeniably, there could be the mushroom of new stories, be it the better or worst versions.
One man against many, misconstrues can never be corrected. I might be wrong though. With that, many stood by the saying: Deciphers are only self-owned. Again, I might be wrong. Such sayings were often preached and not practiced. Sheep mentality is their life-practice, their proclaims are such great sayings. The sad part is: they always do not realize that they lead a schizophrenic style.
I am not a great woman and I say the above based only on what I have seen or read, experienced and done. Things I have done and said are not always what appeases many. Truly, it is not my style to filter my words to cradle your heart in my intentions and soothe your ears with only what you wish to hear. If you want to see me as a mean and bitter spinster, then go ahead. Read: Deciphers are self-owned. The only thing I have entailed to my comments [does not matter whether you see it as mean, direct, sharp or had-better-keep-it-to-myself kind of thing]: is sincerity: they're not purposely constructed to be a dagger thrown for revenge.

My literature teacher used to punish the whole class if one student was heard of using the word: 'useless'. I use to cringe and wonder why she must always get so personal over such small stuffs. Such small, BUT a demeaning word, can't possibly have such a bad effect on the world. Right? Years down the road, I realize that there is a function for everything in the world. Be it how small. There IS always a function for EVERYTHING. So, I guess the word 'useless' is useless because its implementation is negligible.
I hate a fellow whom pride, or cowardice, or laziness drives into a corner,
and who does nothing when he is there but sit and growl; let him come out as I do, and bark.

A dog was seen barking off the streets a few weeks ago. It irates me, deafening barks in the middle of the street, in the middle of a peaceful day. I barked back. "Shut up." I say along with other proper and sharp arrows. Well, just to ensure the 'shut-up'- part is fully conveyed. Funny, another dog came around, barking louder than the former. Sheesh! These dogs just do not understand. *slap forehead* they are dogs after all. Made so much noise, on a street they claimed as theirs. Dogs have a way of marking their territories: by leaving their urine. Sheesh! I bet that place reeked. Gosh!
Anyways, the latter is still barking. I am no longer irated, now more amused. Bemused as well. It has been so long. "Speak when you're spoken to. Talk only when necessary." Your words links to the works of the grey. Talk too much, is just proof of an empty vessel: makes the most noise.
Pity.
No-no. I am not demeaning you. I have no right to do so. I do not dig under your closets to dig the skeletons out. I am more gracious than to start airing your dirty underwear and judging you lesser than you already are. Worst, to start gathering my pals and boycott against you by putting you smaller than dirt. I didn't to you. You did to me. Hark! I know more things than you think I do. As they say," Bring your friends close, bring your enemies closer." Know your enemy before self. If you know the things I do, your heart would crush into so many bits that it is impossible to put it together. If you hear the things I know, you'd probably drown yourself in a bowl of shame.
Really, don't play with fire. There is a reason why the first dog shuts himself. And his reason may be magnanimous or simple because he does not care. Be it any ways, he did shut up. I have my reasons to just observe. What is an attacker if she does not know how to defend? So why are you still barking? "A quarrel is quickly settled when deserted by one party; there is no battle unless there be two."
It is easy to fly into a passion.
Anybody can do that, but to be angry with the right person to the right extent and at the right time and in the right way.
That is not easy.
